Old cigarette commercials…

There was a time when cigarette advertising on TV was common, and it wasn’t banned in the US until 1971.  I was 2 years old at the time, so cigarette ads on television are before my time (I don’t remember ever seeing one on live TV), but there’s a website called Tobacco Videos that has archived several dozen of these old ads and offers them in mpeg format for viewing and download.  I’ve added a new link to this website to the Smoking category on the right-hand side of the page, and I highly suggest you pay a visit for a bit of nostalgia.  I can’t say any of them are particularly “sexy” per se – they’re really dated and, to be honest, mostly very corny – but there are a lot of ladies smoking in many of them and they’re interesting nonetheless.  I’m sure they will bring back memories for many of you, and for those of you who don’t remember them, well, here’s a slice of American television history for you!
